Following their anticipated second album ‘Made Of Static’, electro-soul duo Stubborn Heart have returned with the second release of their ambitious remix series ‘Out Of Our Hands’. The latest three track collection features Vanishing Twin, The Koreatown Oddity and Shamos.
London-based psychedelic pop quintet Vanishing Twin take an ethereal run at ‘Proves To Be’, dissecting it’s danceability to explore a more tribal, hallucinatory meditation. LA based rapper, producer, actor, writer, and former stand-up comedian The Koreatown Oddity lends his talents and some foreboding keys to ‘Mums The Word’. Finally, ‘Against The Tide’ is given a euphoric, glitch-laden makeover by London electronic producer, NTS veteran and Apron Record affiliate Shamos.
Stubborn Heart’s poetic lyricism and icy, left-field R&B is refreshed with these reimaginings, taken to occasionally radical directions and deconstructing the very idea of what pop music can do. The first three track collection featured Plaid, FUMU and Tolouse Low Trax.
On ‘Made Of Static’, the successor to their lauded 2012 self-titled debut, Luca Santucci and Ben Fitzgerald once again struck a fine balance between ominous synth-soundscapes and introspective songwriting. Fitzgerald lead the production and manned the machines to create a rawer sound. Santucci provided the heart and with it his aching, obsessive lyrics and a desire for something grittier in its presentation.
